Platlet Rich Fibrin

Platlet Rich Fibrin

Dr BAS is the first practitioner in South Africa to offer this groundbreaking treatment modality. Studies show that PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) yields a higher growth factor, mesenchymal and stem cell concentration than traditional PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). By using a specially formulated method of centrifugation (Spinning of blood to separate cells) the cells for regenerative growth and skin vitality are concentrated in manner that is not destructive to these cells and a method does not utilize additives that is used when preparing plasma rich platelets (PRP). As compared to PRP, the PRF length of action exceeds 21 days, that means the regenerative elements continue to work for 21 days as compared to 6-8 hours when utilizing PRP. PRF requires careful and scientifically proven protocols for the proper production of good yield. We use specific centrifugation protocols and collection tubes to produce high quality PRF.

See Study Results below to see the scientific basis for utilization of PRF rather than PRP for enhanced and successful aesthetic treatments. With the deposition of fibrin, we create a structural meshwork for the healing process to begin.

Aesthetic Uses

PRF can be utilized in a variety of ways ranging from its application in the liquid form during microneedling for complete skin rejuvenation and enhancement(Vampire Facial Derivative)  to its utilization after surgical excision in a membrane form to assist in wound healing and scar reduction , another novel use of PRF is as a dermal filler , with increasing numbers of people who prefer natural enhancement without the application of foreign dermal fillers etc. , its use for facial remodeling in these groups of patients to create volumized , natural enhancements that will promote collagen and elastin deposition and structured dermal formation in the treated areas . Yes, I know everyone wants to know what areas can be filled , It can be used to fill lips, cheeks, temporal hollows.

Medical Uses

I even utilize PRF to treat medical conditions and have achieved outstanding results, common medical uses include tennis elbow, osteoarthrosis of knee and other joints, musculoskeletal trauma and neck. A wonderful combination of both Botox and PRF to treat back pain is well documented and often achieve outstanding results.
